Fargate Container Park finally opens

The Fargate Container Park has finally opened after multiple delays pushing back the open date.

The Container Park, which opened today at 11am, currently only has Get Wurst, Clapping Seoul and a bookshop open on its first day however there is still a Mexican street food restaurant, microbrewery and bar still to open.

The Container Park has been plagued with delays, most recently on the 15 October where the building control teams were having to wait for technical information from the operator.

The Mexican food vender will be opening on Monday 24 October however the upstairs bar is expected to be ready in the next couple weeks.

The Container Park development has been the cause for debate with some Sheffielders describing it as a ‘waste of money’.

The temporary fixture at Fargate cost the council £446,000.

Fargate is due to have a £15m revamp with work due to begin in March 2023.
